I have never stopped here despite it being a local spot. I heard from family that the wait staff was outstanding and that customer service is at an all-time high. Today, I stopped to see if these rumors were true. I was not disappointed! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a smile, a warm "Hello!", and told to sit wherever I pleased. The waitress, a young lady named Carmen, came to my table quickly, asked if I wanted anything to drink, and proceeded to treat me like family! The waitress introduced me to the others in the restaurant like other staff members and regular customers! She explained all the food, the atmosphere, and was genuinely happy! The food was delicious (and quick!) and a lot for the price! My only complaint (because nothing is perfect) is the constant playing of Fox News on the big screen. The place was clean, bright, and cheerful!
Great place to support. They have a bacon biscuit that comes loaded with bacon for under 3. The biscuits are so soft and yummy. Update on 5-21-25. Went for dinner and we had a large bowl of chicken vegetable soup and a grill cheese....soup was great but grilled cheese was not real hot. Also ordered the pulled barbecue chicken platter. It was great. Overall a pleasant experience. Moderately busy but both waitresses helped to serve our table so we were taken care of. We ordered three desserts to take home two chocolate cakes and one raspberry cake...yum.
Really great food here. Everything came out fast too, not a long wait. I got the BBQ Pulled Chicken Plater, Collard Greens and String Beans. The BBQ pulled chicken had great flavor, and came with a decent portion size. The Collard Greens were one of the best I’ve ever had. Highly recommend getting that as your side if you come here.
I ordered the fish plate. The Catfish did not disappoint with large, tasty fillets. The collard greens were my favorite part of the meal. The waitress was friendly and helpful.
We have driven by this location for over twenty years and never stopped in. Huge mistake. Food was awesome. Some of the best collard greens I have ever had. I got a half chicken with Mac and cheese. Wife got cut beef with fried okra and butter beans. Everything was awesome. We will definitely be stopping by Everytime we are traveling through the area.
Very family friendly dining with great service!Stopped by for a late breakfast and had more than I could eat. Good omelette, great pancakes, excellent coffee !! Check them out next time you're headed to Petersburg on 460. The BBQ is first rate, also. Love the sauce!! Back to try dinner... the Liver & Onion special was just that...special. My son loved the sliced Brisket sandwich and my wife couldn't finish the Catfish plate, which I can attest to, was excellent!! Wow!! The fried Catfish Platter is an outstanding meal!! Some of the best fish around, from a BBQ joint!!!
Friendly greeting, prompt service (complete with recommendations with which we were very pleased), ample portions of excellent food at very reasonable prices. Great homemade coleslaw; fried apples, baked beans, and bread pudding. The two young women efficiently handled a busy late afternoon Sunday dinner crowd, Incoming calls, and carry-out pick-ups. They remained polite and cheerful as they responded to each request. We will definitely visit again.
This place opens at 6 AM. Catfish and eggs hit the spot, it's very delicious. I will be back for the BBQ
